Portland
- Richard Joslin,61, of Middletown had no idea that before the end of the day he would be picking himself up off the ground in front of Standard-Knapp as a car driven by a SCAB tried to jump threw the strike line Wednesday afternoon.
"That's one way of getting our jobs - run over us," said Billy Quinn, President of Local 782.
Joslin was taken to the hospital, where he was later released, insisting that he was not injured. The accident is under investigation by the Middletown Police.
The incident made the front page in the August 21st addition of the Middletown Press.

I would have returned to the strike line in a full body cast before I would let a SCAB scare me off the line, said Richard Joslin, on the left, in front of Standard-Knapp in Portland CT.

Richard is joined on the line by his fellow employees in a strong showing of The Fighting Machinists.
